Judith McConnell

Welcome to our Writing Coach Associates website.

About McConnell:  Chooses red from first box of crayons and has been editing since. Writing at age seven, especially adding verses or notes to greeting cards because Hallmark never said what she wants to say the way she wants to say it.

Throughout her career she is the ‘go to’ editor of employers and colleagues; recipient of first place award for writing and editing ‘How Can I Help? When Mom and Dad Work;’ her essay chosen from 60,000 submissions by the late journalist and NBC News Director Tim Russert is published in his national best selling Wisdom of Our Fathers.

From writing press releases for Independent Writers of Chicago, and others, to scripts for the National Basketball Players Association Awards dinners, to ghostwriting projects, teaching effective business writing and vocabulary building – using precise language is what makes her own and the writing of those she coaches stand out.

A Northwestern graduate, McConnell is the mother of two and grandmother of three. Her daughter, a real estate broker, who with her husband are the parents of two sons and a daughter, live outside of Chicago and her son, an elementary teacher whose first graders interestingly love to write, lives with his wife near Sacramento.

While McConnell lives in the city she spends volunteer time as an interpreter (docent) at the Chicago History Museum. After moving to the suburbs she is elected to the Community United School District board and now writes an informative and fun blog www.truthbehindschoolboards.com.

While writing is McConnell’s happiest place, coaching comes next. She enjoys, too, spending time with family, friends and her first pet ever, her blue point Persian cat Gravitas; studying genealogy, history, politics, education, and playing Scrabble.
